Katlego Moncho was born on the dusty streets of eNyanga in Cape Town. She is the executive director of Lesedi La Thuto Arts Interactive. She is a professional performing artist, theatre maker, educator, arts administrator, workshop coordinator and facilitator. Katlego holds a B-Tech Degree in Musical Theatre and is enrolled with the PGCE programme at the University of Cape Town.

Prior to achieving her qualification in performing arts, Katlego participated in a three-year dance training programme with the Jazzart Dance Theatre, during which she was professionally trained in various dance genres, choreography, directing and theatre-making. She was also involved in various theatre and television productions. She has had the privilege of being a part of David Krammer’s Orpheus in Africa musical-theatre production, which was her debut as an actress. It sparked her interest to study musical theatre at a tertiary level.

While in Cape Town, she discovered the joy of facilitating dance and drama workshops at the HELP Afterschool progamme, and participated in the Kulture Knights female basketball team in Khayelitsha. This experience led to her starting her very own performing arts company in her neighbourhood, where children can escape their difficult circumstances and be exposed to arts education and youth development. This initiative will also benefit the community by helping to address social issues through the arts and to find solutions together to improve their living conditions.
